About the Role

The Commercial Credit Manager fully supports the business in all aspects of credit risk management, playing a vital role in making credit decisions that drive growth while protecting the company from bad debts. This individual proactively collaborates with Sales and Business Management teams to provide credit solutions that enable profitable business development.

What you will be doing in this role

• Provides timely effective credit decisions in line with authority levels, ensuring customer credit lines are appropriate allowing for future business, whilst protecting against potential bad debts.
• Proactively collaborates with the Sales and Business Management teams in providing credit solutions to support profitable growth.
• Communicates effectively at a senior level, arranges, leads and attends meetings with senior stakeholders within customer’s businesses to aid credit decisions.
• Follows up meetings professionally within an appropriate timescale.
• Responds quickly and effectively to daily customer and internal requests, professionally, in line with published timescales and authority levels.
• Requests and analyses management accounts to aid credit decisions.
• Remains informed of market conditions & industry news and considers how this may affect customer’s financial performance.
• Uses technical and professional knowledge together with financial information and market / industry knowledge in producing commercial / financial credit decisions.
• Adheres to the Credit Policy and the Credit Insurance policy with regards to all credit decisions and ensures customer accounts are reviewed to policy.
• Escalates decisions to the Director - Credit as and when necessary to ensure business growth opportunities are not lost.
• Ensures all sensitive and confidential information is stored in the appropriate manner electronically.
• Makes appropriate decisions together with the department Manager on retrospective extended payment term requests in line with authority levels, giving thought to the impact on cash conversion.
• Supports the Collection Team in converting the debtor’s ledger to cash in bank.
• Supports the recovery of doubtful debts.
• Compiles key credit risk statistics for reporting to Director – Credit.
• Liaises with auditors and supplies department information to aid successful bank and statutory audits.


What you will bring to the role

Essential:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in delivering effective credit decisions to support profitable growth.
• Analysing financial information to reach credit decisions.
• Leading meetings and presenting.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
• Credit control principles, including credit risk decisioning.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills at a senior level.
• Interpersonal and relationship building at a senior level.
• Attention to detail & high level of accuracy.

• Assertiveness.
• Time management, future planning & organisation.

Desirable:

• Asset finance (brokering).
• AAT, CICM, degree or equivalent
• Account Management (sales)

In addition to the above job description, you may be asked to carry out other duties as deemed appropriate, assigned to you by your direct manager.
This does not form part of your Contract of Employment and may be amended from time to time by the Company
